Judicial Department is entrusted with overall responsibility for 'Administration of Justice' in the State. Moreover, Judicial Department is also responsible for tendering views to other departments on legal matters as and when requested.The organizational set up of Judicial Department alongwith other instrumentalities is as follows :-

However, unlike other Department's where Directorate is subordinate to the Govt. Department in case of Judicial Department, High Court being autonomous body under Art 225, Judicial Department's role as Administrative Department is limited.

The Registry of Hon'ble Gauhati High Court, on its turn looks after the implementation of Justice delivery measures.
